I’m a lady of a certain age and distinctly remember a time before the internet existed when you had to go to a damn library to learn new things.
People always talk about the good old days but honestly, I’m really into living in this point of history.
It’s a real gift that there is so much easy-to-access knowledge just hanging out in the metaverse!
When Skillshare asked me to photograph their company retreat here in Austin, I was excited and very honored!
Skillshare is an online learning platform with a million different courses on all sorts of rad topics!
CEO Matt is a Texas boy and actually went to the same high school as my husband!
The week-long corporate event took place at Hyatt Lost Pines and they asked me to come party with them.
I’m often hired for corporate retreats to update headshots for a large volume of team members often scattered around the globe.
Corporate events are a great time to do this and typically I also photograph some of the speakers, events, and any company swag!

In one day, I photographed about 200 team members in an alcove outside one of the ballrooms.
I had brought in this black background plus all the necessary lighting.
These headshots were mostly for Slack and LinkedIn so it was fine for them to stay casual.
This is a group of young, innovative people and I love the modern look of the black background.
