Natasha + Jonathan | de Seversky Mansion Wedding

While I would never say that you can’t have amazing wedding photographs if you wed in a less than amazing venue, you know when you have a de Seversky Mansion wedding things are going to be pretty freaking beautiful from the get go. The dark spaces lit with natural light, the sumptous heavy wooden furniture, the warm hued palette of the fabrics, the breathtaking acres of land and water….it’s hard not to capture beauty. Add the talents of Erica, Adette, and Liz from Tinsel & Twine and a gorgeous couple and you’ve got something so pretty you can’t help but gasp in visual joy. This was the Great Gatsby themed wedding I shot in New York in June. It was so fantastic I’m sure Zelda and F.Scott wished they could go!

I’ve know Jonathan for years. He was my neighbor’s best friend in college and he once gave me a horrific haircut when I pined for a razor cut do. I can’t hear Hotel Yorba by the White Stripes and not think of him. The days of college had to end and he moved off the New York to trade in his shark tooth necklace and red keg beer cup for a skinny tie and scotch. It was there he fell for the beautiful Russian heritaged (is that a word?) Natasha with her striking face, unmatchable singing voice and her strong but completely lovable and warm personality. I met Natasha last November for their brooklyn engagement session and have been smitten ever since!

They are not camera shy and the camera is not shy of them. They opted to see each other before the ceremony and gave me over an hour to shoot creative portraits of them. Of course that was a dream for me or any photographer really. It all went down at the same beautiful spot which made it even easier!

I’ve shot Jewish weddings before but don’t think I’ve ever seen the signing of the ketubah and if you can believe it, Jonathan built the gorgeous chuppah himself! Love it!

Natasha walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales which if you don’t know it, is easily the world’s most beautiful song. The ceremony was gorgeous and the rest of the evening was a total blast! During the end of dinner Natasha serenaded Jonathan to The Cure’s Love Song which was beyond awesome!
