One thing I feel can add tremendous value to my clients is the ability to take their headshots within the comfort of their own homes.
After the pandemic, many people moved to working from home permanently so it also makes conceptual sense.
Here are a few perks to taking your headshots at home.
- It’s a space you know well and are comfortable in.
- Your home might have a similar style to your branding due to personal preferences.
- All of your clothes, and accessories are already there.
- Touchups for hair and makeup are easy.
- Free to move furniture as needed or clear decor that doesn’t make sense for your brand.
- Convenience.
Here are a few negatives to taking headshots at home.
- You probably will need to clean and clear quite a bit of clutter.
- You may have pets, spouses, etc that might be in the way or bothered by your session.
- Lighting can be tricky, especially if you don’t have a lot of natural light.
- Space might be challenging if you are in a smaller home.
- Your personal aesthetic is an older version of you or doesn’t fit your business brand.
The three images above were all taken in my client’s bedroom simply by moving furniture around and blasting the crap out of the back wall with flash.
